Operation Christmas Child

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I LOVE CHRISTMAS!! Its safe to say I am a bit of a Christmas freak. One of my favorite Christmas things to do is fill a Christmas box for a child who has nothing!! So I am back with my yearly challenge for all of my readers this Holiday Season!!!

Please give a gift to a child in need!! Operation Christmas Child National collection week is Nov. 16th-23rd. What’s Operation Christmas Child? It is the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind. Operation Christmas Child uses gift-filled shoe boxes to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world. Since 1993, the Samaritan’s Purse project has collected and delivered more than 124 million gift-filled shoe boxes to children in more than 150 countries—and expects to collect another 10 million shoebox gifts in 2015.

What you would need to do is fill a shoe box (come on ladies you all know you have plenty of those laying around!!) for either a boy or a girl (or do one for both đŸ˜‰ and pick an age range of 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14. Ideas of what you could put in the box are: School Supplies, Small toys, Hygiene items (bar soap, tooth brush, washcloths, combs) or t-shirts, socks, hair clips, baseball caps, musical instruments, flashlights ect. You could also include a personal note to your child!! Please do not include any war related items, toy guns or knives, chocolate or food, out of date candy, liquids or soaps, medications or anything breakable.

These shoe boxes will be delivered all around the world, and will be these children’s only Christmas gift this year.. and for some their first Christmas gift ever. Pretty neat to think you could potentially be giving a child his or her first Christmas gift ever huh??!! It also is an awesome way to show children all around the world that they are loved. They will even receive the gospel in their native language!

I do this every year with my kids, and I will tell you what, they love it! They love picking stuff out, they love sending notes to the kids, and they love just giving. It’s truly an amazing experience to share with your own child. You can even track your package and see where it goes once its delivered by one of the Samaritans Purse volunteers.

You will also need to include $7 for shipping and processing.

Please help make this happen for children who have nothing. Start the tradition this year!

Not sure where to drop your shoe box of to? Check out the website at Operation Christmas Child and look on the bottom of the site and click on drop off locations. There are local places to drop off all over the USA!!

Enjoy!! It will be a rewarding experience for you and your family. But most importantly such a blessing for a little boy or girl out there that has nothing.

Love this idea! I’m also a Christmas freak! I usually go through a local community and buy gifts for a child in need. I’m definitely going to look into Operation Christmas child for this year!
